LEARNING OBJECTIVES AND OUTCOMES:Understand the science of cryotherapy – explain how liquid nitrous oxide works to destroy benign skin lesions. Identify common benign lesions – recognise and differentiate between skin tags, warts, verrucae, cherry angiomas, milia, and pigmentation. Recognise contraindications – assess when cryotherapy is suitable and when referral to a medical professional is required. Demonstrate safe device handling – correctly prepare, load, and operate a cryotherapy device following manufacturer guidelines. Apply effective treatment protocols – perform cryotherapy techniques appropriate for different types of benign lesions. Manage treatment risks – minimise potential side effects and complications, particularly in clients with darker Fitzpatrick skin types. Deliver comprehensive client care – conduct consultations, obtain informed consent, and provide clear pre- and post-treatment advice. Maintain professional standards – work within scope of practice, follow insurance and safety requirements, and apply correct record-keeping practices.
