Say Goodbye to Unwanted Ink – Gently & Effectively with NAG Laser Tattoo Removal
Whether it’s an ex’s name, a faded design from your teens, or just a piece that no longer suits who you are — tattoo regret is more common than you might think. The good news? It doesn’t have to be permanent. At Ammonite Beauty, I use the advanced NAG Q-Switched Laser to safely and gradually fade unwanted tattoos, helping you feel confident in your skin again.
Let me walk you through exactly how it works, what to expect, and how we can make that ink a thing of the past.
What is NAG Laser Tattoo Removal?
Laser tattoo removal uses short, powerful pulses of light to break down the ink particles in your skin. These tiny particles are then naturally cleared away by your body’s immune system over time.
At Ammonite Beauty, I use the NAG Q-Switched Nd:YAG laser — a medical-grade device known for its precision and effectiveness on a wide range of ink colours and skin types.
This isn’t a one-size-fits-all process. Every tattoo is different, which is why you’ll receive a full consultation before we begin to assess your tattoo, skin type, and treatment goals.
What kind of tattoos can be treated?
Laser removal can help fade or fully remove tattoos that are:
- Black tattoos
- Coloured tattoos-some colours lift better than others.
- Professional or amateur
- Old or relatively new (once healed for at least 6 months)
- On any area of the body – except eye lids
It’s also ideal for those preparing for a cover-up tattoo, helping lighten the area so your artist has a clean canvas to work on. I will work closely with your tattoo artist to achieve the desired level of removal required for the cover up.
How many sessions will I need?
This depends on a few things — including the age, colour, depth, and size of your tattoo, plus how your body responds to the laser. Most people need between 6–12 sessions, spaced about 6–8 weeks apart, but you’ll start seeing fading after just a few treatments. During your consultation, I’ll give you an honest idea of how many sessions you might need.
What to expect at your first appointment
- We’ll chat through your tattoo history and your goals
- I’ll do a patch test to make sure your skin reacts well
- During the treatment, the laser will be passed over your tattoo in short bursts
- It may feel like an elastic band snapping on your skin — quick, sharp, but tolerable
- The area will be cooled, cleaned, and dressed afterwards
3 weeks after the patch test, we will start the removal process with your first treatment.
Aftercare & Downtime
After your treatment, the area might feel warm and look red or slightly swollen — this is completely normal. Some blistering or scabbing can also occur in the days following.
Here’s how to care for it:
- Keep the area clean and dry
- Avoid sun exposure and don’t pick any scabs
- Use the aftercare cream I recommend
- No saunas, hot baths, or intense exercise for 24–48 hours
- Wear loose clothing over the area to avoid irritation
Healing takes around 7–14 days after each session, and your body continues clearing ink for weeks afterwards.
